Hand made quality doesn't lend itself to large scale production. A jewelry box like this takes weeks to make. The corner dovetails are cut by hand. the handles are recessed into the sides, the hinges are installed with the precision of within one-sixty fourth of an inch. The lid is fitted by repeated trial and micro adjustments until it is flush with the front and sides. Solid cherry wood is brittle and unforgiving, but it makes beautiful jewelry boxes.
I love cherry wood. It is especially beautiful when sanded to 12,000 micro mesh then finished with Odies Oil. Patience is required with this oil when applied to 12,000 sanded cherry.
Beautiful piece!!!
